Wind energy players Suzlon and Vestas are in the fray for Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation's (GSPC) proposed 200 Mw wind power plant, sources in the state energy department said today.

"When we invited bids for the wind power project, 13 companies had purchased the bid document but only two companies, Suzlon and Vestas have finally bid for the project," a GSPC official said.

Technical bids have been disclosed and are being scrutinised at present while financial bids would be opened after the scrutiny is over, he said.

GSPC is venturing into the clean energy sector with the setting up of a 200 Mw wind farm in the state.

The Rs 1,200-crore project would be awarded to the selected bidder to build, commission and operate for 10 years period.

As per the bid clause, the selected bidder, who bags the contract, would have to identify and acquire the land for the project and has to be commissioned within six months of awarding the final contract.
