New project to come up along existing project site in Puuttalm district.

Suzlon Energy Limited (SEL), world's fifth largest and India's largest wind turbine manufacturer, won a repeat order from Senok, Sri Lanka to supply 10 units of Suzlon's S88 - 2.1 mega watt wind turbine generators, aggregating to 21 mega watt of wind power capacity.

The project will be commissioned in two phases and be completed by May 2012.

"This new order underlines Senok Group's strategic focus on wind energy. We take pride in being the pioneer in commercial wind power projects in Sri Lanka. We are happy to once again partner with Suzlon for this new project and count on Suzlon's collaborative approach and time tested service capabilities to continue our endeavour towards a greener tomorrow," said Noel Selvanayagam, president, Senok Group.

Tulsi Tanti, chairman and managing director, Suzlon Group said, “This repeat order underlines Suzlon's strong value proposition of offering expertise and flexible solutions from concept to commissioning-to meeting our customers' unique needs across diverse geographies and wind regimes. This island nation has considerable potential for wind and a great need for power to drive its economic growth."

Suzlon has previously supplied a 10 mega watt wind project to the same company and the order marked key firsts for Sri Lanka's wind energy sector--as the first project to feature megawatt class turbines and first project by any private developer in the island nation.

The new 21 mega watt project will come up alongside the existing project site in the Puttalam district of Sri Lanka.

Senok Group, is a diversified business conglomerate of Sri Lanka with interests across construction machinery, automotive, infrastructure development, tea, haulage and mining.
