As alternate medicines draw more crowd, Swas Healthcare Pvt Ltd, that owns a chain of naturopathy clinics across Gujarat, is confident of doubling its turnover in the next two years from a sub-one crore revenue now.
The company started with seed capital from family members around three years back, and then was infused with funds worth Rs 2 crore from Aavishkaar India Micro Venture Capital Fund (Aavishkaar) last year, Sanjay Singh, director, Swas Healthcare said at the sidelines of launching its third clinic here in the city. It plans to open one more in Ahmedabad in a few months, besides spreading its network in Rajkot, Surat and Baroda. "Each city will have multiple clinics.", Singh informed. In all, ten clinics are planned.
The therapy offered by Swas is based on ayurvedic medication and lifestyle management for kidney disorders including severe conditions like hydronephrosis.
"Swas has managed to treat around 100 patients with kidney related disorders in three years, of whom nearly 5 per cent are totally cured, 20 per cent significantly cured and around 75 per cent see reduction in acute symptoms", Singh claimed.
These clinics are manned by qualified naturopaths who have either Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (BNYS) or Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degrees. Nearly, two lakh people in India go into terminal kidney failure annually and millions suffer from lesser forms of kidney diseases. In contrast, there are only 700 nephrologists practicing in the country, Swas claimed.
