Swedish luxury bed maker forays into Indian market

The 156-year-old family-owned company manufactures beds using natural raw material like wool, horsehair, flax, cotton and pine. The price range is between Rs 2,50,000 and Rs 35,00,000.

Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, Sanjay Verma, country manager (India), Hastens, said the company planned to open eight to 10 stores, each with a carpet area of between 3,000 sft and 5,000 sft, across the country in the next two years.

"Hastens believes in partnerships. Each of the proposed franchisee-run stores will entail an investment of Rs 2-4 crore. We expect each store to sell 30 to 40 beds a month," he said.

Hastens is currently established in 28 markets with 60 concept stores, 12 mega stores, two flagship stores, 98 shop-in-shops besides 129 retailers.
