DBTel is in talks with two Chennai-based companies for purposes of distribution and servicing of handsets.
DBTel is expected to tie up with Munoth Communication Ltd for distribution and with ACCEL ICIM for the servicing of handsets.
Incidentally, ACCEL is one of the largest players in the cellphone servicing segment in the country and has similar relationships with Ericsson and Siemens.
DBTel is also planning for a media splash and has appointed RK Swamy BBDO as its media planning and buying agency.
The company according to advertising sources plans to spend Rs 25 crore in its first three months on marketing.
Two senior officials from the Taiwanese company have been camping in Chennai since the last week for the purpose.
Jaswant Munoth, managing director, Munoth Communication Ltd, confirmed to Business Standard that his company would be the distributor for DBTel mobile sets in India. The formal launch is expected to take place sometime during the last week of November in Delhi.
DBTel according to Munoth, plans to sell around 50,000 DBTel handsets a month.
