The Tata Group-owned, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), announced the opening of a hotel under a new brand name called ‘Vivanta’ at Whitefield, Bangalore. The hotel is slotted in the ‘upper upscale’ segment, below the Taj luxury segment and above the Gateway brand. With this, the company now has five hotels in the IT city.
The hotel is located at the entry point of the 69-acre ITPB (International Tech Park, Bangalore) which comprises office, production and retail space environment in east Bangalore.
Recently, the company had launched the “Gateway” brand and now, a new property under a different brand name has been launched. The management had already stated its commitment to the process of segmenting the hotel industry and this clearly is another move forward. The ‘upper upscale’ hotel would cater to the sophisticated and cosmopolitan customer group and has a capacity of 199 guest rooms.
“We are delighted to open this new hotel in the vibrant, cosmopolitan city of Bangalore. Our growth plans envisage a critical role for this key metropolis and we look forward to making a strong impression with this unique offering” commented Raymond N Bickson, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL.
The upper upscale branding position is a new foray for the firm as Jamshed Daboo, Chief Operating Officer, Taj Premium Hotels, explained.
“Vivanta Whitefield Bangalore is high-spirited and stylish and will appeal to the agile ‘work-hard-play-hard’ hotel user. We have collaborated with this customer set and have devised a creative set of experiences which seek to surprise & delight our guests in small but meaningful ways.”
