Taj Software Systems has opened a development centre in Hyderabad with an investment of about Rs 1 crore. The $4-million start-up firm, headquartered in Brooklyn in the US, has recruited 25 professionals to work at the development centre. |
Javed Mirza, president and founder of Taj Software, told mediapersons that the company has implemented a data conversion project for the New York State Housing Department's data conversion project and bagged yet another project from a California-based technology firm for digitisation of their publications. |
"We are planning to become a BPO (business process outsourcing) services pro-vider in the area of data conversion to DHTML and XML formats, digitisation of publishing works. We expect to do a business worth $10 million this year," he said. |
Inaugurating the company's development centre at the upmarket Banjara Hills, Ajay Sawhney, secretary of the IT department, said that smaller companies performed better in the areas of new innovations. |
He also pointed out the competitiveness of the IT companies working in smaller cities. |
"Many companies have started operations in smaller cities in the state. I visualise a situation where the software companies will have a hub in Hyderabad and conduct operations through small development centres in the districts," he said. |
With the broadband being made available at affordable rates, small towns too could witness the IT and the BPO operations, which could bring enormous prosperity to these semi-urban areas, he said. |
