TAJGVK Hotels net zooms 133%
TAJGVK Hotels and Resorts Limited has recorded a 133 per cent increase in net profit for the first quarter ended June 30 2004.
 
The profit after tax (PAT) for the quarter was at Rs 4.03 crore compared to Rs 1.73 crore earned during the corresponding period in the previous year.
 
During the quarter, the company has recorded an increase of 38 per cent in operating revenues to Rs 23.16 crore compared to Rs 16.79 crore in the corresponding period last year.
 
A release for the company said that growth in revenues were mainly due to growth in room occupancies and average room rates (ARRs). Food and Beverage revenues have also exhibited a significant growth over the previous year, the release added.
 
"We are planning to foray into newer markets like Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi and are on a look out for suitable properties," G V Krishna Reddy, chairman of TAJGVK Hotels and Resorts Limited, said.
 
Pokarna Limited net at Rs 3.45 crore
Pokarna Limited for the first quarter recorded a 24.23 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 3.45 crore as compared to Rs 2.77 crore earned during the same period last year.
 
The net sales registered a 53.83 per cent growth to Rs 30.77 crore from Rs 20 crore during the first quarter last year. The earning per share (EPS) of the company for the quarter was Rs 5.57 recording a growth of 24.33 per cent.
 
The stand alone EPS of granite division of the company was Rs 7.49 for the quarter. The company has also set up a modern shirt making factory of the outskirts of Secunderabad in Apparels Park at Gundlapochampalli.
 
Surana Telecom Limited net up 33%
Surana Telecom Limited's net profit for the first quarter ended June 30 registered a growth of 33.7 per cent at Rs 1.19 crore as compared to Rs 89.45 lakh during the corresponding quarter of last financial year.
 
The income from operations registered a growth of 482.68 per cent at Rs 34.77 crore as compared to Rs 5.96 crore for the corresponding period in the last fiscal.
 
The profit before tax for the quarter grew 49.83 per cent to Rs 1.37 crore as compared to Rs 91.45 lakh for the same period last year.
 
Another group company Bhagyanagar Metals Limited posted a net profit of Rs 6.58 crore for the first quater as compared to Rs 71.85 lakh during the same period last year.
 
The income from operations of the company grew 348.24 per cent to Rs 65.18 crore as compared to Rs 14.54 crore during the first quarter last year.
