Infosys today said it was closely monitoring the situation in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit the nation on March 11 and is taking appropriate action to keep its employees safe.
"In cases where employees and their families have expressed a desire to return temporarily to safety, we are facilitating their travel," the company said in a statement here.
"The situation around the cooling down of reactors is currently fluid. While progress is being made, recent reports warrant concern around developments. We are taking appropriate action to keep our employees safe," it said.
Employees in Japan are being apprised of the situation on a periodic basis and being monitored for safety, the release said, adding that Infosys would continue to advise them of an appropriate course of action as the situation develops.
"We will continue to support our clients locally and from offshore locations till the situation stabilises. We would like to reiterate that this is a temporary situation and that we are committed to our clients and operations in Japan," it said.
