Hyderabad-based telecommunications software and services company, Tanla Solutions Limited, deployed a video mail service on the 3G spectrum with state-owned Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), thereby becoming the first company to have live services over a 3G network in the country.

Video mail service ensures that the users do not miss any calls even when they are not available. Using video mail, the users can leave a message through videos, which is an enhancement to the existing voice mail services where the users leave only a voice message.

Tanla looks forward to add new services in the 3G value-added services space that would provide the company traction in the segment, which is likely to expand very soon in India. Tanla already deployed and is providing 3G services on networks outside of India such as in the UK and Sri Lanka, the company said in a filing to the BSE on Monday.

Tanla’s scrip is currently trading at Rs 32 on the BSE, up 3.39 per cent over the previous close of Rs 30.95.
