Tata AutoComp Systems (TACO) is setting up five auto component manufacturing plants at Sanand, Gujarat, at an investment of Rs 300 crore, a state industry department official said today.
"TACO is investing around Rs 300 crore to open five plants at Sanand in Gujarat this fiscal. These 5 new factories are part of the vendor park coming up at the Tata Nano plant site," the official said.
Tata Group in June this year commissioned its Tata Nano plant at Sanand with a capacity of 2.5 lakh units per year.
TACO is among the largest automotive component groups in India, having revenues over Rs 3,500 crore.
At the vendor park, plots have already been allocated to 41 vendors. More will be accommodated subsequently, Tata Motors said in a statement.
Vendors, accounting for about 80 per cent of the value of components to be sourced from the park, have already begun construction, it added.
TACO Senior General Manager Corporate Communication Shvetal Diwanji told PTI, "All our five auto component plants at Sanand are under various stages of completion. One plant is already up and running and the rest 4 would be operational within a couple of months."
