The Tata-Changi Airport consortium has bid for the development of three airports in Karnataka for which the state government had invited expressions of interest last month.

The airports are at Shimoga, Gulbarga and Bijapur, N G Tim Peng, vice-president, Changi Airports International India, said on the sidelines of an aviation conference here today.

The consortium is also bidding for upcoming airports at Navi Mumbai and Greater Noida near New Delhi, Peng said, adding that the consortium will bid for 35 non-metro airports whenever bids are invited.

Tata Real Estate and Changi Airports International, in which the Tata group holds a 51 per cent stake and Singapore's Changi the remaining 49 per cent, will bid for the three airports in Karnataka.

After the Union government went ahead with the modernisation of airports in metros, the airport development space has seen consortiums vying with each other for bagging ventures.

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) is a joint venture comprising GMR group, state-run Airports Authority of India (AAI), Germany's Fraport AG, the India Development Fund and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.
