Tata Coffee has entered into an agreement with the Ugandan government to set up a 3,600 metric tonne per anum plant with an investment of Rs 70 crore, managing director M H Ashraf said."We are in discussions with people who supply equipment (of German technology) and contractors," he added.Ashraf said permissions like environment clearance will take about three months, and work on the project can start soon after the clearances are in place."We are hoping to market it (instant coffee to be produced in the proposed Ugandan plant) in EU and China. Uganda has a special relationship with these countries. As a least developed country, they (Uganda) don't have to pay taxes or import duties," he added.
