"Global Data as a share of Tata Communications' total gross revenue was about 45% in FY 2013. This number is expected to grow to 47% for FY 2014," Sumeet Walia, Head of Global Enterprise Business, Tata Communications (TCL) told PTI.
At the end of financial year 2013, TCL's consolidated income stood at Rs 17,212.95 crore.

In FY 2013, India accounted for 51% of TCL's global data business and the rest of the world 49%; service providers accounted for 51% and enterprises 49%.
Walia said during the course of year TCL is expanding its data centre capacities in India and Singapore to meet demand of data growth pushed by proliferation of smartphones and social networking sites.
"We are in the process of augmenting our data centre facilities, both in India and Singapore. We have 1 million square feet of data centre and co-location space over 42 locations...We have another 65,000 squar
e feet in Singapore," he said.
The company is also has plans to expand its virtual private data centre (VPDC) footprint in India to handle demand of internet serivces across globe.
"We plan to expand our VPDC footprint to five or six locations in the India and the Asia Pacific regions to ensure that we have enough capacity for the enterprise customers in this region," Walia said.
Through VPDC, TCL provides storage space, servers, security solutions without need to house them in customer's premise.
At present TCL provides VPDC services out of Mumbai & Chennai (in India), TCX Singapore, Cressex (in the UK), Santa Clara and NY (in the US).
