Enterprise data service provider, Tata Communications, today said it has entered the cloud computing space by launching virtualisation solutions.

The service, targeted at the SMB segment, is offered at a attractive price of Rs 12,000 per month per terminal and includes server, storage, connectivity and security.

"We are extending our managed services portfolio by introducing managed hosting and storage solutions for the domestic SMB market. By opting our opex-based model, SMBs can free up their capital but also enjoy significant saving over the contract period," Tata Communications, Head (Managed Infrastructure Services), Simon Robin, said.

The contract period for the service would be of one year, he added.

The service offers significant reduction by up to 70 per cent over comparable infrastructure if it is under the owned model.

"We are targeting to sell 400 virtual machines in this fiscal (FY 10) and another 2,000 by the end of the next fiscal (FY 11)," Robin said.

Being a managed and plug-and-play solution, it cuts down the deployment time significantly as customers do not have to go through the long cycle of procurement and set up.
