Tata designs service to defend cyber attacks

The DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) Detection and Mitigation by Tata Communications protects India Infrastructure from sophisticated and methodical cyber attacks, the company said in a statement.

A distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users.

Although the means to, motives for, and targets of the attack may vary, it generally consists of the concerted, malevolent efforts of a person to prevent an Internet site or service from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely.

According to a senior official of CERT-In, Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the official watchdog that tracks hacking of government networks a lot of DDoS attacks are being mounted on the Indian websites.

Tata Communications DDoS Detection and Mitigation Security Services provide real-time application-layer analysis of all IP traffic traversing the company's global IP backbone.
