Tata group keen to take part in Telangana projects

The projects include setting up a water grid, and incubation hub, industrial corridors, smart city, solar power park etc

The Tata group has shown interest in participating in many of the flagship projects of the Telangana government. These projects include setting up a water grid, and incubation hub, industrial corridors, smart city, solar power park, aerospace park, housing for the poor and improvement of civic amenities in Hyderabad, an official press release said.

A delegation led by Telangana information technology and panchayat raj minister, KT Rama Rao, held a meeting with Tata Sons chairman, Cyrus Mistry, and senior executives of nine other group companies at Mumbai on Tuesday where it was agreed upon that a senior team from the Tata group will visit the state and work out detailed modalities of collaborating on these projects.

In the renewable energy sector, the group is stated to have showed its willingness to establish a 100-Mw solar power plant and development of biomass for power generation besides exploring the feasibility of wind power generation in Telangana.

Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited, which has expertise in industrial township projects, has agreed to participate in the development of a greenfield industrial township “at an appropriate location along with processing and non-processing area. They will support the state government’s efforts to develop an electronic hardware manufacturing park near Hyderabad. This arm of the Tata Sons offered their services to study the transportation systems in Hyderabad city, and work out the possibility of a light rail system as a feeder to the metro rail.”

Tata Advanced Systems, which already has aerospace projects in Hyderabad, promised to take up new projects in the Adibatla Aerospace Park and the upcoming aerospace extension park. Tata Projects expressed interest to participate in the execution of the water grid project.

The upcoming project of T-Hub, which is projected to become the largest incubation centre in the country, is stated to have fascinated Cyrus Mistry. He committed the support of TCS to the project, and also agreed to explore the possibility of Tata Innovations Fund to take up equity in the project.

Tata Housing, which has participated in the slum redevelopment schemes in Mumbai, came forward to take up the same in Hyderabad too. Other group companies like Tata Motors, Tata Teleservices and CMC also agreed to look for opportunities for collaboration, the press release stated.

Besides Mistry, the delegation met Anil Sardana (Tata Power), Sanjay Ubale (Tata Realty & Infrastructure), Vinayak Deshpande (Tata Projects), Puneet Sharma (Tata Capital), Sukaran Singh (Tata Advanced System), R Ramanan (CMC), Sumit Sapru (Tata Housing), Ravi Pishaordy (Tata Motors) and N Srinath (Tata Teleservices).
