Tata Group's Ginger Hotels to add 20 properties every year

However, the company did not mention about the investment to be made on the new properties

Ginger Hotels, one of the dominant budget hotel chains from the house of Tata's, plan to add 20 properties every year across the country as part of its expansion strategy.

"Our focus is on driving growth and offering hotels in all the pin codes of India where guests travel for business and leisure. We are currently operating 37 properties and 21 properties are under construction. We are looking at adding 15 to 20 hotels every year", Nikhil Sharma, chief operating officer, Ginger Hotels told Business Standard in an email interaction.

"Being a data driven company, we have a heat map of 70 cities where we intend to expand in the next few years. Our strategy for growth is accelerating momentum to bolster our position as the dominant value lodging brand of choice for customers, developers and employees that delivers superior returns to shareholders and positively impacts society. We currently have an inventory of 3400 rooms and another 2500 rooms will be added soon, he added.

However, the company did not mention about the investment to be made on the new properties.

Roots Corporation (RCL), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) that operates the Ginger chain of hotels, is betting big on tourist destinations. It has hotels at tourist destinations like in Goa, Jaipur, Tirupati, Katra, Nashik and Vishakhapatnam.

"We are also looking at expanding our presence in other tourist destinations. We plan to set up more hotels in Goa, Amritsar, Kolkata and Agra", said Sharma.

Asked on business model to attract the customers, Sharma said, "apart from green field and brown field expansion, we are re-badging hotels and our success in multiple locations gives us the confidence to incorporate this into our existing framework".

"Our target customers are value seeking customers; business and leisure travelers who are looking for a comfortable stay. Our focus is to become a ' desirable and a value-for-money' brand targeted at the Indian youth and families" , said the top company official.
