Tata Group veteran B Muthuraman joins Sundram Fasteners board as independent director

The auto-components' maker is a flagship company of TVS Group

B Muthuraman, one of the veterans of Tata Group, joined the board of Sundram Fasteners Limited as an independent director.

Sundram Fasteners Limited today informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that it got shareholders' nod to appoint Muthuraman as an independent director of the company for a term of five years from April 16, 2015 to April 15, 2020.

Muthuraman had a long association with the Tata Group. He joined Tata Steel in 1966. He was appointed as an executive director in 2000, managing director in 2001 and non-executive vice chairman in 2009. He has also been the Chairman of Tata International Ltd, Tata Africa Holdings Ltd and on the Board of Tata Industries Ltd and Strategic Energy Systems Pvt Ltd.

He was also the president of Confederation of Indian Industry in 2011-12.

Suresh Krishna headed Sundram Fasteners is a flagship company of $6 billion and is a components manufacturing company, which produces high-tensile fasteners, powder metal components, cold extruded parts, hot forged components, radiator caps, automotive pumps, gear shifters, gears and couplings, hubs and shafts, tappets and iron powder.

In 2013-14 the company clocked a revenue of around Rs 2,736 crore
