Tata Motors domestic car sales down 15%

Besides passenger cars, sale of utility vehicles at 2,652 units too were much lower than 4,048 units sold during April 2012.

Disappointing Car sales leads Tata motors register 14.8% decline in total vehicle sold in the month of April 2013.

With  the domestic car sales at 8918 units in the month of April 2013 coming less than half of what company sold in April 2012 (18,610 units)  Tata motors saw its total vehicles sales declining 14.8% year-on-year in April 2013.

Tata Motors total vehicle sales stood at 51,160 units in the month of April 2013 (including exports). These were also lower than 72,715 units sold by the company in the month of March 2013.

Besides passenger car sales the sales of utility vehicles (Sumo/ Safari/ Aria/ venture range) at 2,652 units too disappointed. These were much lower than 4,048 units sold by the company in the month of April’12.

However the company has seen a 5% growth in domestic commercial vehicles sales compared to April 2012. While the domestic Medium and heavy commercial vehicles sales at 10,002 units (19.5% of total vehicle sold) marked a growth of 2%, year-on-year, compared to 9,829 units sold in April’12. Light commercial vehicles sales at 26,023 units increased almost 5% y-o-y

The domestic commercial and passenger vehicles sales at 47,595 units declined 16.9% y-o-y, while the company’s exports at 3,565 units in the month of April 2013 increased 28.19% y-o-y.

The stock is trading 0.6% down on the bourses at Rs 298.85 levels.
