Tata Motors and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO) of Japan on Wednesday inaugurated an environment-friendly dual-fuel based power generation facility at the company's Pune plant.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the project that would produce power through clean environment technology was signed between the Government of India, Government of Japan, NEDO and Tata Motors. The company's Pune plant was chosen for the project by the above agencies.
Tata Motors and NEDO have jointly worked on the project for two years. Two 2.5-MW diesel electric power generators sets were identified for conversion into dual-fuel generators, using natural gas as the main fuel and diesel as the pilot fuel. The project has achieved success by operating diesel generator sets on natural gas and light diesel oil.
Tata Group has embarked upon a journey to reduce its cumulative carbon footprint.
