Tata Motors has decided to expand its facility in Uttar Pradesh, includingadding a new assembly line for commercial vehicles, and will be investing Rs 350 crore for the purpose."The expansion will include setting up of a paint shop, welding shop and a new assembly line," a company spokesperson said today.Ravi Kant, managing director of Tata Motors, announced the company's plans after a meeting with Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.With the proposed expansion, the company's production capacity of imtermediate, medium and heavy commercial vehicles will go up to about 1,00,000 units by the end of 2008. "Currently, we have a capacity of 30,000 units," the spokesperson said."The investment would create direct and indirect employment opportunities for about 5,000 people in the state," Ravi Kant had said.
