Mumbai-based Tata Motors has priced its new-age hatchback Bolt attractively at Rs 4.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the petrol version.

While the base version costs Rs 4.65 lakh, the top end version costs Rs 5.75 lakh, both petrol. The base version of diesel costs Rs 6.34 lakh while the top-end diesel costs Rs 7.32 lakh, all prices ex-showroom, Mumbai.

In all there will be four variants (XE, XM, XMS and XT) with two fuel options, petrol and diesel.

At that price the Bolt takes on successful models like Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Honda Brio and Toyota Etios Liva.

While sales projections have not been specified, the company should be hoping to clock a minimum of 4,000 units every month almost on par with the compact sedan Zest.

The hatchback will have a new 1.2 litre petrol engine branded Revotron alongside the trusted 1.3 litre Fiat diesel engine which is regularly seen on the Manza and Vista.

The Bolt comes with three driving options - Eco, City and Sport - allowing the driver to choose as per the requirements. The car will also have a Harman infotainment system, which will be a first in the segment.

The company is rolling out the new product across 100 cities in one week, much higher than its previous average of around 8 cities. Market leader Maruti is also understood to be hitting 100 cities in one week for most of its volume products.

The Bolt is built using the same platform as the Zest making it exteriors look similar to its bigger sibling. However interiors are different in the Bolt.

Bolt will be the second new product launch from the Mumbai-based company in less than five months. The company has promised to launch two new models every year untill 2020.

The Zest, launched in August, was the first new model launch in the volume segment after a gap of five years. Maruti Suzuki launched ten models during the same period.
