Plans are also afoot to set up 5 Mw geothermal project in the state. In order to build expertise and capabilities in the area of geothermal, the company has invested $50 million for a 10 per cent stake in Australian company Geodynamics.
Gujarat has given a major thrust on power generation from solar energy. Last year the state government had allocated 716 Mw of solar power capacity to 34 national and international project developers. Many companies have already announced their intention to put up solar power project in Gujarat.
