Tata Sky Ltd, an 80:20 joint venture of Tata and Star, which launched its Tata Sky satellite television service across 300 cities in the country on August 8, is getting an encouraging response from Rajasthan. |
"We are getting a positive response from Rajasthan," said Vikram Mehra, head consumer marketing, Tata Sky Ltd. |
"Only 25 days from the launch, the service has already expanded its reach to 2,000 cities in the country. We are present in all the major and minor towns of Rajasthan," Mehra said. |
He claimed Tata Sky's hardware was priced at Rs 2,999. The installation, activation and one year comprehensive warranty would cost a consumer Rs 1,000, he added. |
Currently, the service is available for only Rs 200 per month as a special introductory offer. Tata Sky offers subscribers channels from leading broadcasters such as STAR, Sony, Discovery, Disney, MTV, NDTV, ESPN STAR Sports, National Geographic, Eenadu, TV Today, Asianet and many more. |

"The service has been designed to give subscribers a choice of all their favourite television channels in DVD quality picture and CD quality sound," he said. |
To offer maximum convenience to subscribers, Tata Sky has set up a pan-Indian distribution network of popular consumer electronic stores and mobile phone outlets for retailing its hardware and prepaid recharge vouchers. |
The company has also tied up with LG, ITC International's business division and Indian Oil Corporation as part of its distribution drive. |
