Tata Steel Orissa project construction in next 3 months

Tata Steel, planning to set up a 6 million tonne integrated greenfield steel plant at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district, hopes to start the construction work of the project in next 2-3 months. It has already settled 800 families out of the 1100 families to be displaced for the project and is in talks with the others for shifting them.

“We are all set to start construction work at Kalinganagar. This could be within next 2-3 months”, Rajesh Chintak, chief resident executive (CRE), Tata Steel, said here.

Talking to the media after attending the review meeting chaired by the steel and mines secretary, Chintak said, the company has already invested about Rs 6000 crore for the project. It has procured some equipments which are stored at Brahmanipal and Jamsedpur. Stating that setting up of the steel project at Kalinganagar requires shifting of 1100 families, he said, out of them 800 families have been settled.
