Tata Steel has posted a 28% increase in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,054.61 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 (Q3FY07) when compared with Rs 824.76 crore for Q3FY06.According to an official release issued by the company to BSE today, total income has increased to Rs 6,072.28 crore for Q3FY07 from Rs 5,082.38 crore for Q3FY06.On a stand-alone basis, the company has posted a net profit of Rs 1,063.75 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 as compared to Rs 753.74 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2005. Total income has increased to Rs 4,568.72 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 from Rs 3,739.28 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2005.
