On 21 April 2008, Tata Teleservices had invited its members to approve by way of a postal ballot to sell or dispose off or transfer the passive tower infrastructure undertaking.
Other telecom companies like GTL Infrastructure, Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel had earlier hived off the towers into separate companies to become asset light and concentrate on core business.
