Tata Tele prunes loss to Rs 93 crore

Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (TTML) has posted a net loss of Rs 92.95 crore in its second quarter ended September 30, 2006, lower by 30 per cent from the net loss of Rs 132.50 crore recorded in the same period of the pervious financial year.
 
For the quarter, the CDMA major's total income, however, rose to Rs 341.64 crore from Rs 259.22 crore posted during the same period of 2005-06.
 
The company's EBITDA shot up 146 per cent to Rs 64 crore in the second quarter from Rs 26 crore a year ago. Its half-yearly EBITDA grew a phenomenal 242 per cent at Rs 123 crore from Rs 36 crore recorded during the corresponding first half of the previous year, TTML said in a release here today.
 
TTML's first-half revenues grew 33 per cent at Rs 664 crore from Rs 499 crore recorded during the first half of 2005-06.
 
The telephony major has reduced its H1 loss by 21 per cent at Rs 206 crore from Rs 260 crore recorded in the comparable period last year.
 
The company's second quarter subscriber base shot up 72 per cent, it said.
 
TTML was rated as number one among operators in terms of customer satisfaction and network performance by an independent survey agency during the quarter.
