Tata to advise on nano tech park

US-based firm Nanobiosym, which is setting up a Rs 2,000 crore Nanobiosym park in Himachal Pradesh's Nalagarh industrial zone, has included Ratan Tata, chairman, Tata group, as a member of its global advisory board. Jennifer Wilson, a spokesman of the Nanobiosym, confirmed on Tuesday.

“Nano technology has the potential to revolutionise the way we tackle key issues facing the world today.The company is working at the forefront of this revolution,” Tata was quoted as saying by Wilson.

“Ratan Tata's example provides us a practical roadmap for bringing cutting edge technologies into emerging economies so that we are able to reach broader markets,” Chairman & CEO of Nanobiosym,.Anita Goel said.

Goel, an internationally recognised nanotechnology expert has developed Gene-Radar, a portable nanotechnology platform which can rapidly and accurately detect generic fingerprints from any biological organism.

Besides providing patients portable diagnostic information about their health, this innovative technology is all set to give patients round the globe real-time access to their diagnostic information through low cost handheld devices that could detect disease from a single drop of saliva or blood.

Goel has been named as one of MIT Technology Review's top 35 science and technology innovators in the world. While Time Magazine marks Tata as one the 100 most influential persons in the world.

Other members on the advisory board include Alfred Ford, director of the Ford Motor Company Fund and former US ambassador John Palmer, Vinay Singhal former CED of Fortis Healthcare among others.
