General Motors India (GMI) today reported a 58% increase in sales in April at 2,214 units, fuelled by the healthy demand for its multi-utility vehicle Chevrolet Tavera.GMI had reported sales of 1,401 vehicles in April 2004, an official release said today.The company sold 1,603 units of Tavera in the month under review. "A total of 15,049 units of Tavera have been sold since its launch around 11 months back," the release said.Besides Tavera, April sales include 406 units of Chevrolet Optra and 200 units of Opel Corsa.The company said sales in the first four months of 2005 stood at 10,611 units, an increase of 56% over 6,792 units in the corresponding period last year.
