India’s largest IT services company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is close to bagging a multi-million deal from the UK Government. The period of the deal is expected to be for 8 years.
The UK Home department has been in talks with TCS to support its new Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) operations.
UK-based Capita, which has been delivering the disclosure services for the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), confirmed that it has lost the contract to another vendor.
“Capita is disappointed not to have been selected by the Home Office to support DBS. Whilst the date of the full handover of services to the new supplier has yet to be finalised, the CRB has advised Capita of its intention to extend the current CRB contract with Capita beyond the current expiry date of 31 March 2013, and the terms of this extension agreement are now being finalised. We will now, of course, work with the CRB, and its new partner, to enable the smooth transfer of the service,” said the company.
When contacted, a TCS spokesperson refused to comment on the development.
While the deal size could not be confirmed, Capita that had been servicing the contract for the last 10 years for a contract value of Pound 400 million.
