TCS m-cap surged by Rs 9,815 cr last week

Amid a bullish broader market trend, software giant TCS and country's biggest lender SBI emerged as the top performers among the top-10 companies in terms of market capitalisation during the last week.

The market cap of TCS surged by Rs 9,815.36 crore to Rs 2,32,192.42 crore, while SBI's m-cap advanced by Rs 8,442.19 crore to Rs 1,53,737.43 crore.

Shares of both the blue-chip companies saw brisk buying during the week as the scrip of TCS shot-up by over 4%, while SBI's jumped by nearly 6% on the BSE.

But it was Reliance Industries and Coal India who continued to rule the chart despite seeing losses in their respective market valuations.

RIL lost Rs 2,700.89 crore from its m-cap which was at Rs 2,82,251.53 crore, while coal producer CIL shed Rs 3,505.58 crore to Rs 2,42,579.81 crore.

Oil & gas major ONGC saw its valuation surging by Rs 2,994.42 crore to Rs 2,36,387.91 crore.

IT behemoth Infosys Technologies saw an addition of Rs 4,157 crore to its valuation which was at Rs 1,68,481.64 crore.

Infosys was followed by FMCG major ITC which added Rs 5,145.84 crore to its m-cap which stood at Rs 1,56,077.48 crore.

Power producer NTPC saw its valuation swelling by Rs 3,256.96 crore to Rs 1,53,365.56 crore, while top lender ICICI Bank witnessed an addition of Rs 3,395.95 crore to Rs 1,26,113.82 crore.

Telecom player Bharti airtel's m-cap dropped by Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 1,45,615.9 crore.

Meanwhile, the BSE 30-share index Sensex gained over 522 points, or 2.86% to end the week at 18,762.80.
