Technophilia Systems Private Limited, a robotics education institute, is planning to tie-up with 150 colleges across 15 cities.
Technophilia has partnered iCarnegie, powered by US-based Carnegie Mellon University, to set up labs in engineering colleges and to give hands-on education to students in robotics. Technophilia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with engineering colleges to establish Centre for Robotics and Embedded Systems of Excellence (CRESE).
“Every year, around 500,000 engineering students pass out from 5,000 colleges, and less than 25 per cent of the students can be employable directly. There is a huge gap between industry demand and the industry-ready students,” said Hiral Sanghvi, managing director, Technophilia Systems.
“We are hopeful of bridging the gap in the field of robotics, embedded systems and other emerging technological fields,” he said.
Technophilia would be setting up training and research labs across Indian universities so that students can get an exposure on taking up projects based on latest robotics applications. It would invest Rs 6 crore in the next two to three years to set up the labs.
“We will cover 15 cities in 3 phases in the next three to four years, by taking 10 colleges in each city,” he said.

The course would be integrated with the institution’s course with robotics, computer science and mechanical engineering and make them productive from Day-I they enter the industry. This programme will offer eight courses (one course of 45 hours per semester). It will charge $100 for the course, internship, certification, seminars and competitions per semester.
Every year, the best student will be chosen from each partner college and nominated for iCarnegie’s week-long global scholars programme, which is conducted in July at Carnegie Mellon University, said Ron Shell, vice-president, iCarnegie Inc. For these nominated students, iCarnegie will choose 10 best students from India and offer them a fully-paid trip.
