Tata group’s hotel ventures arm Indian Hotels Company Limited’s (IHCL) subsidiary The Gateway Hotels and Resorts is planning to start 10 new hotels across the country in the next two years.
Of this, the company expects to begin operations of three new hotels by the end of the current fiscal. The Gateway currently operates around 22 hotels, which are legacy properties, across the country.
The 10 new hotels are part of the company’s 20 new hotels, which are under construction. The new hotels which are coming up in smaller cities like Hubli, Tirupati, Gangtok, Himalayas among others would have a room capacity of about 150-175 rooms per hotel. The company’s chief operating officer, PK Mohankumar, did not disclose the investment in the new hotel projects.
