Tim Cook jets off to Kanpur for IPL match
The Apple CEO takes off for Kanpur in his private jet, with media trying to chase him from IIT-Kanpur to the Green Park cricket ground in the city
Karan Choudhury Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook, in India since Tuesday, decided to mix business and leisure on the trip. On Thursday, after finishing his day-long engagements in Hyderabad, the Apple boss took off for Kanpur in his private jet, with media trying to chase him from IIT-Kanpur to the Green Park cricket ground in the city, where Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders were playing Gujarat Lions in an Indian Premier League match. Officials confirmed Cook was in the VVIP box in the evening.
Sources at Chakeri Air Force Station in Kanpur confirmed that Cook's aircraft landed there around 5 pm. Uttar Pradesh Police was also informed about his visit. "The security around Green Park stadium has been beefed up and we are also providing escort vehicles to his cavalcade," said a senior police officer in Kanpur.
