Popular mobile dating app Tinder today announced Taru Kapoor as its India head, signalling expansion of its operations outside US.
"With the appointment of Ms. Kapoor, Tinder is expanding horizons from the US to India, making it their first international operations. She will be based in Delhi and will lead India operations for the company," according to a company statement.
As its India head, Taru will focus on establishing the Tinder brand in India, steering its explosive user growth and increasing user engagement by focusing on local user needs, it added.
Launched in 2012, Tinder is the world's major social dating app. It has membership in 196 countries where 26 million matches are made on it with more than 10 billion matches made to date.In 2015, the company introduced Tinder Plus, a paid service which allows access to premium features such as rewind and passport.
