Tamil Nadu Telecommunications Ltd (TTL) posted a net loss of around Rs 2.87 crore during the quarter ended June 30, 2012, as against a net loss of Rs 2.92 crore posted during the same period last year. Total income declined 43 per cent to Rs 1.78 crore as against Rs 3.11 crore during the period.

The company, a joint venture of the central government’s Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL), and state’s Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (Tidco), is under a rehabilitation period according to a BIFR-approved sanctioned scheme and is being monitored by the BIFR.

TTL is expecting fresh orders with volume to support its attempts of revival. “Subsequently, the company is confident of getting orders of good volume from Reliance Infotech and from the government’s National Optic Fiber Network (NOFN) project,” said a company disclosure to the regulators.

The total optical fibre cables for the NOFN project is around 600,000 kilometre and the processing by the government is in the advanced stage. Further, the company is also looking at diversification, added TTL.

The company also expects its project for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) to be completed by October this year. It had received an order from BSNL for supply of 3,206 km of optical fiber cable valuing Rs 15.97 crore, which is under execution.
