EasyPrep, founded by ex-IITians Vivek Sharma and Ankit Saraswat, provides an online/offline platform for schools, coaching institutes and teachers to create exam papers for classroom teaching, for students' assessment and for helping students prepare for competitive examinations.
Toppr, founded in 2013 by Zishaan Hayath and Hemanth Goteti, both IIT Bombay graduates, is backed by private equity firms SAIF Partners and Helion Venture Partners. It raised close to $2 million in 2014.

"Toppr.com's main focus has always been towards building great products and having the EasyPrep team onboard gives us more ammunition to execute our plans faster," said Hayath, chief executive. It employs a little over 100 people and serves about 150,000 students.
Toppr provides students with insights into their stronger and weaker areas, through which they can effectively decide where to invest their time in practicing for an entrance examination. It also predicts what rank they will have on the basis of their current performance and how to improve this. The test prep market in India, a fragmented one, is estimated at Rs 40,000 crore and growing 20 per cent yearly. This comprises traditional coaching centres with classroom teaching and online web-based teaching. Earlier this month, the segment saw Singapore-based XSEED Education acquiring the online learning management business of Pleolabs, an Indian education technology start-up. The deal size was not disclosed.
