The Rs 55,750 crore Japanese Toray Group said it saw a big market for its Torayvino water purifiers in India in view of the poor quality of water in the country. |
"Besides Kolkata, we would be rolling out our entire range in New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad by 2008. For the last one year, we have been studying the quality of water in various parts of India and we realised that water in India is high in bacteria content, mud and other germs. |
In some parts of India, there is even a problem of excess salt in water. We, therefore, came up with Torayvino hollow fibre membrane filter water purifiers that would provide 99.99 per cent bacteria-free mineral water," said Ashish Tibrawalla, CEO, A K Exports & Imports, which would act as importer and distributor of Torayvino water purifiers in India. |
Torayvino launched three models in India. Models MK2 and MK202 can provide up to 1,500 litres of water and is priced at Rs 3,530 and Rs 5,050 respectively, inclusive of taxes. |
The SW5 model is priced at Rs 10,710 and can deliver up to 8,000 litres of water, inclusive of taxes. The models don't work on electricity and, therefore, need replacement cartriges depending on usage. |
The MK2 and MK202 models need replacement cartriges, priced at Rs 950, almost every five months. Cartriges for SW5 are priced at Rs 2,850 and need replacement every 17 months or so, depending on usage. |
