Torrent joins hands with PowerGrid

Torrent Power signed joint venture agreement with Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) on Thursday in Delhi, for setting up transmission system for power evacuation from Torrent Power Generation (TPGL)'s 1100 MW SUGEN gas based mega power project at Akhakhol, near Surat and Dehgam in Gujarat.
 
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 3,000 million.
 
The execution of the project will commence very soon, informed sources from TPGL.
 
The 400 kv double circuit line would cover a distance of approximate 250 km.
 
This will take care of the power evacuation requirements of the new generation project o Ahmedabad or North Gujarat.
 
The company is also connecting Akhakhol and Surat for evacuating power for distribution in Surat.
 
The project would be implemented under the aegis of Torrent Power Transmission (TPTPL) with the company holding 74 per cent and PGCIL holding 26 per cent of the equity capital of the company.
 
The company has also signed other related agreements with TPTPL for the execution of the Project and for availing transmission services.
