Ahmedabad-based pharma major, Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd's net profit for the fourth quarter of 2009-10 surged by 64 per cent at Rs 59 crore from Rs 36 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.
The operating profits (PBDIT) for the fourth quarter jumped by 83 per cent to Rs 97 crore from Rs 53 crore in the same quarter last year. The company's sales for the quarter stood at Rs 456 crore up by 14 per cent from Rs 400 crore in the same period last financial year.
The company attributed healthy growth in international business and continued bouyancy in domestic formulation to the rise in its sales.
"During the quarter, the domestic formulation business registered 20 per cent growth at Rs 166 crore, while sales outside India moved up by 11 per cent to Rs 242 crores," the company said in a release.
