Toyota 2004 sales up 20%

Toyota Kirloskar Motors wholesale sales is 47,851 units in wholesale terms in 2004, a 20 per cent growth over 2003.
 
A Toyota statement said that Qualis sales grew 20 per cent over the previous year to 36,698 units, Corolla sales surged 25 per cent to 10,195 units, while luxury sedan Camry sales fell 1,012 units in 2003 to 941 units this year.
 
Also, the sports utility vehicle, the Land Cruiser Prado launched in November sold 17 units in December.
 
On a December to December comparison, Qualis sales were up 16 per cent to 3,541, Corolla notched its best ever monthly sale at 1,023 units, up 41 per cent over the corresponding last year, while Camry fell 55 per cent to 63 units.
 
The statement added that Qualis also notched up its highest ever monthly retail sales at 4,092 units in December last.
 
A Toyoshima, managing director, Toyota Kirloskar Motors said, "We have witnessed extremely good results in 2004 and this can be attributed to the good economic conditions. This year we will consolidate our market share and increase production capacity to 60,000 units per annum from 45,000 now."
