Toyota Kirloskar invested Rs 900 crore in its Bidadi plant where it employs over 2,300. The plant started production in December 1999 and has capacity to produce 50,000 units per year.
Of the total investment made in the plant, the equity portion amounts to Rs 700 crore while Rs 200 crore was mobilised through internal accruals.
K K Swamy, deputy managing director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the company has already achieved break-even with regards to returns on operational expenses.
