Toyota Kirloskar Motor has hinted at increasing the price of its flagship multi-utility vehicle, Qualis, next month, following a 30-35 per cent price hike in steel prices and another 20 per cent in diesel.
At the launch of Qualis Royal Saloon diesel version on Saturday, K K Swamy, deputy managing director, said though the company is looking at increasing the price of Qualis, it will partially absorb some cost to ensure that the entire burden is not passed on to its customers.
Swamy said the company is also studying the possibility of entering the B segment of passenger cars. Currently, the price of Qualis varies between Rs 5.1 lakh and Rs 8.4 lakh, depending on the petrol and diesel variants.
