Toyota Motor Corp. Resumed production of eight models in North America after suspension in the first week of February, following safety problems.

Toyota has also resumed selling the eight models involved in the recent recall of about 2.21 million vehicles to fix potentially defective accelerator pedals.

The eight models, sold in the United States, are the RAV4, Corolla, Matrix, Avalon, Camry, Highlander, Tundra and Sequoia.

On January 26, Toyota announced that it would suspend their production during the week at four plants in the United States -- two in Indiana, one each in Kentucky and in Texas -- and one plant in Canada.

The recall involves gas pedals, which the automaker said may, on rare occasions, get stuck in a partially depressed position.

Along with the suspension of production, Toyota told its US dealers to halt their sale. Last week, Toyota dealerships began repairing the pedals on the vehicles and resumed selling them.
