Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) said today it would withdraw its hugely successful 'Qualis' model from the Indian market to make way for a "more modern and customer-value-driven vehicle."'Qualis', which had been the mainstay for the company in the Indian market since its introduction in 2000, was being taken off the market with an eye to "Achieve volume and market-share objectives in future", the company said in a statement today.Industry sources said 'Qualis' would be replaced by 'Innova', which is expected to be launched shortly. Exact details , including the price, were being worked out, the release added."It is time to bring in newer products that will provide better value to the customer. The new model will be able to satisfy the requirements of a multi-purpose vehicle and passenger car," A Toyoshima, managing director of TKM said.The 'Qualis' was available within a price range of Rs 5.8-9 lakh. The sources said the pricing of the new vehicle was expected to be in close range of the Qualis' price. TKM, in which Toyota holds almost 99% stake, has invested close to Rs 900 crore in its Bidadi plant. It employs 2,300 people and has annual production of 50,000 units.
