Telecom regulator Trai today said it has extended the last day for receiving comments on reworking telecom tariffs for mobile and basic telephony services to November 29.
The deadline was earlier set for November 15.
"Keeping in view the requests received from the stakeholders and importance of the issues raised for consultation, the Authority has decided to extend the last date for submission of comments up to November 29 and for counter comments to December 9, 2010," Trai said in a statement.
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) had initiated an exercise to rework telecom tariffs for mobile and basic services in the wake of rising number of promotional offers and increasing competition in the telecom market.
The tariff plans offered by the service providers have different component of rent and call charges, processing fee, talk time and value added services etc.
Adequate price transparency is crucial for the correct operation of an efficient and competitive market.
Transparency of tariff in telecom sector is necessary to protect interests of consumers and to facilitate further growth of telecom services in India, Trai had said.
