Sports infrastructure company Trans Stadia plans to set up 12 stadia across the country in the next five years, a top company official said.
"We plan to build 12 stadiums in the next five years all over India, along with many sports academies," Trans Stadia's Managing Director & CEO Udit Sheth said today.
The company is already working on its first stadium project in Ahmedabad, he added.
"We have already started working on our first stadium project in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat government has allotted us 12-acres of land as a part of its Vibrant Gujarat project."
The company's plan is to build convertible multipurpose stadia on the lines of those existing in countries like the UK, which can be revenue-generating. Many corporates have already evinced an interest in its projects and the company would be flexible in its business plan, Sheth added.
Trans Stadia is also in talks with venture capitalists and PE firms for financing of the projects.

"We need help from various state governments as well as the Central Government. We are looking for long-term lease of land for our projects and if a particular State Government is interested in our business model, we are ready to do it through the public-private partnership," he added.
The company is working on a business model that would enable each stadium to break-even within five-years, he said.
