Trivitron, Vision Engineering enter JV

Healthcare products manufacturer Trivitron Medical Systems has entered into a joint venture agreement with X-ray machines maker Vision Engineering to set up a new manufacturing facility in Pune.

The 51:49 joint venture in favour of Trivitron Medical Systems seeks to generate Rs 100 crore in revenues by year 2011, Trivitron Managing Director, GSK Velu, said on Monday.

The joint venture gives Trivitron a controlling stake in vision Engineering, which manufatcures fully Indigenised advanced X-ray machines.

"We plan to export X-ray machines to gulf countries, South Africa and south-east asia regions. The new facility being developed by us would also have a presence of certain other medical equipment manufacturers who whould act as our parters in distribution and support," Velu added.

Vision Engineering already has two manufacturing units in Pimpri and Tathawade near Pune.

The joint venture aims at expanding these two units in addition to setting up a new facility. Trivitron has already started working on a medical euqipments park in Chennai.

"We want to make Chennai and Pune as manufacturing hubs. The low costs of manufacturing in India would help us achieve greater sales globally," said Devendra Anjikar, Managing Director, Vision Engineering.
